After a successful debut for Inter Miami with a wonderful winning goal on a free ball, Lionel Messi is expected to be in the starting line-up of his new team tomorrow night (Tuesday to Wednesday) for the game against Atlanta United in the American League Cup. Along with the Flea, Sergio Busquets is also expected to receive the pink jersey, with Jordi Alba yet to join the squad for his first official match.
In another aspect and ahead of Miami's rest of the season, Tata Martino, the team's coach, announced last night at the press conference ahead of the challenging match against Atlanta: "Messi is the new captain of the team." The Argentine explained that in Gregora's absence, first captain Deandre Yedlin replaced him and gave the Flea the ribbon when he came off the bench in the 1-2 win over Cruz Azul, but now Messi will be the sole captain of the team.

The coach also confirmed that Messi and Busquets would start in the line-up, adding: "They will also play 90 minutes, there is no reason not to." Apart from his superb performance on debut, Messi managed to break another record by getting millions of viewers glued to the TV screen to watch him play on American soil. In fact, the match against Cruz Azul became the most watched soccer game by an American team in the history of American television with an average of 12.5 million viewers.
